Vibrators are one of the most effective methods of increasing the stimulation you and your partner experience. Choosing one can be difficult especially for a
first time purchase due to the enormous variety of vibrators offered. Here are some general guidelines to help in choosing one:
- Shape: Choose a shape that can be used both internally and externally. If this is your first vibrator try choosing one that you can experiment with using both externally on
the clitoris and vulva, and internally, in the vagina. This allows you to try vibration in a few different areas of your body to find out where you like vibration. Some women like to use vibrators just on the clitoris; some
like to use them just on the vaginal lips; some like to use them inside the vagina; and some like to use them in all three places and more! You'll never know what you like until you try it yourself.
- Intensity: Choose one that has multiple intensity levels. If you are a first timer you do not know how intense you like your vibration. Experienced users may like the ability to vary
the sensation to fit different moods or objectives. Most of our vibrators have a range of speeds from low to high. This way, you can experiment with different intensities to see what you like best. Some women like
mild stimulation all the time; some women like intense stimulation all the time; some women like mild, then intense; and on and on. The possibilities are endless.
- Material: For a first time vibrator, choose one made from a hard material, like hard plastic. Most of the traditional or classic style vibrators are made of hard plastic and are a good
inexpensive way to get started. Though it may not seem like having a hard-shelled vibrator would be comfortable on your genitals, a hard material is actually an advantage because it allows you to feel the full range
of vibrations your vibrator has. If you get a vibrator with a soft surface, the vibrations will be muted. Some feel that hard-shelled vibrators are just too intense but
remember that it's always easier to decrease a vibrator's intensity than it is to increase it. If your vibrator feels too intense, you can always lower the setting on a variable speed device or vibrate
it over a towel, blanket, or hand to mute the vibration. If it isn't intense enough, however, there isn't anything you can do to make it more intense.
- Price: Also, for a first time purchase, choose one that is about $25 or less in price. While it's true that many people enjoy vibration, but it's also true that some don't like vibration on
their genitals at all. If this is your first time trying it, it's best to not invest a lot of money, until you know whether or not you like the sensations. We offer very effective plastic traditional style vibrators for under $10, some
that even include the batteries. If you end up not liking vibration, you will not be out a lot of money.
- Water activities: If you would like to use the vibrator in or near water such as in the bath or shower, be sure to select one that is waterproof.
- Size: If you do plan to use the vibrator inside the vagina or anus choose one that has the appropriate diameter. One way to do this is to measure the width of the number of fingers
you like having inside of you when you're aroused and look for vibrators whose diameter matches this dimension.
Vibrators come in many shapes, sizes and with varying functions, smooth and cylindrical, realistic penis shapes, bullets, eggs, hard, bendable, multi-function and on and on. The rabbit style multi-function vibrators
have been highly publicized, and while it's true that many women love them, not everyone does. These vibrators provide lots of stimulation to lots of areas of the genitals, and that much stimulation at once can feel
overwhelming to women who have never experienced vibration on their genitals before. Keep in mind that what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another person.
